Lakers Defeat Nuggets 103-97

The Lakers were able to pick up another victory despite Kobe Bryant not playing and coach Mike Brown leaving minutes before tip-off for undisclosed personal reasons. Matt Barnes stepped up big time tonight. Shooting 9-for-11 from the field, including 4-for-4 on 3-pointers, he scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Andrew Bynum had another good night, putting up a 30 and 8 game.

The Lakers clinched a playoff spot with tonight's win. They have only missed the playoffs 5 times in the last 64 years. Kobe did not wear his walking boot today. If this was a playoff game, he would be ready to go but the Lakers just want him to rest.

Spin: The Lakers look strong without Bryant. Players are getting more shots and getting into a better rhythm. With the playoff in two weeks, this is the best time to get hot. If the team can play like this with Kobe back they will be dangerous. Kobe sitting out these games might be a blessing in disguise for the Lakers playoff run.
