Lakers Take Game 2, Lead Series 2-0

The Lakers came out of the gate strong, going up 8-0 early. Offensively they had a great game shooting 44.8% from the field. They committed only 10 turnovers. The offense is finally beginning to look fluid and dare I say championship caliber. Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum both had superstar performances.

The Lakers took a 55 to 48 lead into halftime. After that it began to get interesting. In the third quarter, the Lakers went on a 14-0 run lasting 5 and a half minutes. But in the last 6 and a half minutes of third quarter Denver outscored the Lakers 22 to 10 to pull themselves back into the game. In the fourth quarter, the bench stepped up and pushed the lead back up to 12 points. This gave Kobe a good 4 minute rest and also extended the lead in his absence. When the starters returned to the game the Nuggets went on a 14 to 4 run to get the Lakers' lead as low as 4. The Lakers were able to hang on beating the Nuggets 104-100 to take a 2 games to none lead.

Andrew Bynum scored a playoff career high of 27 points. He shot 12 for 20 and grabbed 9 rebounds.

Kobe Bryant had a great shooting night, one of the best he had in a long time. He shot 15 for 29 scoring 38 points. This is his 83rd 30+ point playoff game.

Ramon Sessions and Pau Gasol added 14 and 13 points, respectively. Gasol also co-led the team with 10 rebounds.

Amidst personal problems, Jordan Hill had his second straight game with 10 rebounds.

Game 3 is Friday night from Denver.
