Lakers Purchase 55th Pick from Dallas

The Lakers came into draft night with only only one pick, the last one. There were rumors that Gasol or Metta World Peace could be shipped out of town for some higher picks. By the end of the night the rumors turned out not to happen and the Lakers were stuck at pick 60.

But the Lakers did decide to purchased the 55th overall from the Dallas Mavericks. With that pick the Lakers drafted Darius Johnson-Odom out of Marquette.

Johnson-Odom (6'2) is an undersized shooting guard with the potential to be a solid scoring option for the Lakers in the near future. Averaging 18.3 points per game during his four years at Marquette, Johnson-Odom made a name for himself as a scorer that could get the job done attacking the rim and from beyond the arc.

He is a high-flyer and will definitely be putting skills on display when given the chance. We will just have to wait and see if Mike Brown gives him the chance to play or if he becomes this years Andrew Goudelock.
