Corey Maggette says he’d sign with the Lakers for the minimum

Corey Maggette appeared on ESPNLA710 today where he let it be known that he’d sign for the veteran’s minimum if it meant a chance to play for the Lakers.

Here's the quote from the Mason & Ireland show:
If you talk about the Lakers…that would definitely be a huge plus, man. You can’t beat playing for one of the greatest organizations in basketball, having an opportunity to play with Kobe and the guys that they have on there.
Of course I’d do it for the minimum. If you have an opportunity to play with that team? Definitely.

Maggette played  in 18 games last year due to injury and the coach in Detroit wanting to play with a certain set of players. In 2011-12 he averaged 15 points per game while shooting 36% from three.

While the Lakers would undoubtably rather get younger, a 33-year-old Maggette for the minimum is worth a look The Lakers will need to add a small forward if Metta World Peace is amnestied.

At this point, it doesn’t appear that the Lakers or Maggette have had any contract negotiations but it looks like Maggette is ready to start them.
